The Legacy Artists represent a distinguished chapter in our musical history. These premier artists were originally signed to the TRA-STAR Records label, a respected independent label known for its commitment to artistic excellence and authentic sound. Following the absorption of TRA-STAR Records into MCM World Media, this catalog continues to be preserved, celebrated, and stewarded under the MCM banner. Each Legacy Artist project was produced by Mark Carman, reflecting a consistent standard of craftsmanship, integrity, and creative vision that remains foundational to MCM World Media today.

TRA-STAR Records was an independent American record label founded in Nashville, Tennessee in July 1987 by singer-songwriter and producer Mark Carman. From its earliest years, TRA-STAR stood out as one of the few independent country labels to achieve notable chart presence, including a Billboard charting single with Heartland’s New River — an uncommon accomplishment for an indie imprint at that time. The label went on to release a string of Top 40 successes throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, including hits by Heartland (Keep the Faith, Making Love to Dixie) and other artists such as Patsy Cole, Billy Walker, Rebecca Holden, Heath Locklear, and more. Known for its artist-driven focus and commitment to quality production, TRA-STAR became a respected home for country, gospel, and roots music. Today, the TRA-STAR Records catalog and legacy are preserved under the MCM World Media umbrella, reflecting a deep history of independent spirit and creative accomplishment — with each artist project produced by Mark Carman.
